Classic Cottage Style Gets a Modern Upgrade in Gardens Plan 3 at Lantana

This three-bedroom townhome, from the Gardens Collection at Lantana @ Beach by Brookfield Residential, lives large in all the right places, with a refined cottage style and carefully curated experiences throughout. Upon entry, we created a terrific school/work-from-home space in this “fun-sized” den. Your Zoom meetings are sure to be a hit with the powerful yellow & white patterned wallpaper and cleaver shelving as your backdrop.  The pegs create a pseudo drop zone for backpacks or coats and the buffet is a perfect place to grab the keys, grocery bags or dog leash on your way out.

Pine wood luxury vinyl plank was used to create a larger more continuous feel on the second floor. Rustic white wash and pine pieces feel modern because of their clean lines. Crisp white, calming gray and vibrant yellow are super hot as Pantone’s Colors of the Year. The interplay of color and pattern encourages the eye to move around the room, and features like a textured sisal rug and raffia-wrapped bar stools add to the organic cottage style and contrast beautifully against the bright white kitchen. This soothing color scheme creates moments of relaxation and happiness! Sleep and rejuvenation is what the third floor is all about.  From the daughter’s room who loves horses and all things natural and free, to the son who loves camping in the wilderness and on into the master suite, complete with the right sized deck where you can enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine. It’s all the details in this striking townhome that create effortless Orange County living!

Haute Hygge in Plan Three at Indigo at Canvas Park

The Plan Three townhome at Indigo by Brookfield Residential is an exercise in hygge design and decor. A Danish word that’s derived from old Norwegian and loosely translates to ‘well-being,’ hygge is more a state of being than a particular design form. A cornerstone of Danish culture and everyday life, it resides at the intersection of purpose, form, and style, evocative of all things cozy, charming, warm, and extraordinary. In practice and principle, it’s about creating environments that allow us to enjoy all of life’s great moments with the people we cherish.

Indigo’s Plan Three represents the hallmark of hygge philosophy in 1,527 square feet—classic Scandinavian design with its beautiful simplicity, cheerful minimalism, and purposeful furnishings. Working with a smaller footprint makes this sophisticated yet approachable style shine. Uncluttered and open sight lines, abundant natural light, and considered placement of furniture and embellishments work in harmony to appeal to all the senses. White-washed walls juxtaposed with warm woods, folk-style accents, and greenery are welcoming and inspire relaxed and comfortable living.

The tenets of hygge are embraced throughout this charming three- to four-bedroom floorplan. It’s easy to envision a group of friends enjoying a Sunday brunch in the woven rope dining chairs or seated among the soft fluffy pillows on the couch. Living areas are a gentle balance of soft curves, angular lines, and neutral hues. Every piece and feature is carefully curated and serves a distinct purpose, from open floating shelves in the upstairs loft, playful macrame wall décor as the entry focal point in the dining area, and a beaded chandelier in the master bedroom. An open terrace with its cozy seating extends the home’s living space into the outdoors in comfort and style. Plan Three is designed to inspire us to live comfortably, beautifully, and to fully embrace life’s moments.

Calm, Cool, and Collected at Gardens Plan 1 at Lantana @Beach

The team masterfully maximized every inch of this two-bedroom, 1,345 square-foot townhome at Gardens Plan 1 at Lantana @Beach by Brookfield SoCal. A subtle contrast of light and dark accentuate Plan 1’s best features, with hues of soft blue, sand, black, and white. An accent wall and charcoal hexagonal floor tile present a striking greeting at the entry, and the addition of a slim metal console and basket transforms the small space into a functional drop zone. Upstairs, open lines and geometric prints blend with nature-inspired shapes and warm woods for a soothing, tranquil balance. A black impact wall in the dining area immediately draws you into the main living spaces, with its larger-than-life botanicals playfully complementing the organic feel. Layering coffee tables of different shapes and materials is a great way to create depth in a room (see our latest post on this trend here), and we particularly love the organic root wood table paired with the glossy round metal piece for contrast. On the third level, bedrooms receive similar treatment with a combination of cool and warm features by extending the color palette and adding textured bedding, a macramé stool, wood and metal furnishings, and contemporary art. Gardens Plan 1 creates a stylish canvas where homebuyers can easily experience the incredible lifestyle at Lantana @Beach!

Sophisticated Bohemian and Modern Flair

White, bright, and full of light, our interpretation of Woodbridge Pacific Group’s Plan 3 at Flair is all about enjoying quintessential Palm Springs vibes. Set in the incredible planned community of Miralon, this mid-century inspired home is desert bohemian paired with modern elements and eclectic embellishments. Bursts of mustard, gold, cranberry, and purple pop against white walls and light tile flooring, with matte black accents offering contrast and sophistication. A geometric lattice screen defines and separates the entryway from the kitchen while keeping sight lines open. In the great room, honey-colored wood veneer wallpaper and camel-toned chairs add warmth, and a low-slung sofa with textured throws maintains the views through double sliding glass doors to the comfortable outdoor living space. Bedrooms are earthy bohemian infused with modern features with retro wallpaper, abstract art, macramé decor, and a balanced composition of texture and pattern in the bedding. Bold geometric prints, contemporary art, texture on texture on texture — this home has it all. Perfect for a vacation or permanent staycation, Plan 3 at Flair is designed for those who plan to live well in contemporary Palm Springs style!

Chameleon Design Takes Home Three Gold Nugget Merit Awards

We couldn’t be more proud of team Chameleon for taking home three Gold Nugget Merit Awards during the virtual awards presentation on Friday, July 24! Judged by a panel of top industry experts and professionals, the Gold Nugget Awards represents some of the best in residential architecture, design, planning, development, and building in projects across the United States and internationally.

Merit Award | Architecture Category | Best Renovated or Restored Single Home

We transformed a Newport Beach, CA, Beacon Bay three-bedroom home into a five-bedroom modern seaside cottage for a mature family. Paying homage to the mid-century cottage style indigenous to the area, our team reimagined this lovely property for the 21st century to blend seamlessly in an established custom-home neighborhood. By successfully integrating three separate structures with different floor elevations and ceiling heights, we created seamless flow throughout with the addition of a great room large enough to accommodate family and friends, two additional bedrooms, a full bathroom and bonus room, and two built-in desk/work spaces, all while adding only 744 square feet. The result is a family home that’s modern, sophisticated, and full of casual luxuries ideally suited for distinctive bayside living.

Merit Award | Interior Design Category | Best Interior Design of a Custom or One-of-a-Kind Home

Our interior design is the second accolade for this custom Beacon Bay home. We brought a refreshed modern beach house aesthetic and incorporated striking mid-century elements indigenous to the style of this enclave of Newport Beach. A tonal color palette creates balance and harmony with opportunities to surprise and delight with pops of color and character pieces for a one-of-a-kind feel. Organic elements like the natural ash feature wall in the family room and 9’ teak console are statement making and inviting, offering a warm counterpoint to crisp whites and dark bronze hues throughout. The kitchen was renovated from top to bottom to increase the footprint for multiple cooks and connect the family and dining rooms with a bar area for easy mingling. And with easy access to the outdoor living space through bifold glass doors, the home is truly an entertainer’s dream. Bottoms up!

An Encinitas Coastal Farmhouse Is Laid-Back Luxury Defined

Town and country meets coastal contemporary in this lovely Plan 7 modern farmhouse at Loden at Olivenhain. A luxe-yet-casual balance of both styles accentuates this Woodbridge Pacific Group neighborhood’s prime location nestled in Encinitas horse country only a few miles from pristine North County coastline. This six-bedroom, six-and-a-half bath home is full of livable spaces for everyone, including a home office, media room, and loft. An Eclectic Mix That’s Refreshingly Modern at Indigo Plan 1

When creating interiors, every design detail is important, but it’s especially so in smaller spaces. Our team maximized every inch of this two-bedroom townhome of Indigo at Canvas Park by Brookfield Residential to help prospective buyers envision living large in a smaller footprint. It’s all about scale here, the careful curation of appropriately sized pieces to achieve a stylish balance between form and function. A slim console table and embellishments create a defined entryway and establish a sense of arrival. Cool tones and fresh neutrals complement natural elements like the wood dining table, cocktail table, and three-dimensional block wall decor that play up the organic themes. The white floating shelf creates a chic and layered gallery wall so art and photos can be easily swapped out when it’s time for a change. The interplay of crisp white wall decor against a green wall is unexpected and adds dimension in the master. With its smaller sectional, media, and kids’ craft table, the narrow loft is a reimagined multi-purpose space that’s fun for the kids and stylish enough for the grown-ups to enjoy!

Natural Modern at Solstice Plan 3

This Plan 3 townhome at Solstice by Brookfield Residential lives large with a warm, masculine feel that’s on point and timeless. Thoughtful use of patterns, materials, and color softens the clean-lined vibe. A palette of creamy white, graphite, and mustard hues are cool and transitional, complementing the natural light pouring in from large great room windows. Potted greenery adds a pop of color, grounds the main living areas, and draws the eye to furnishings with a nod to nature and the outdoors.
